Warnings and safety
this Philips HPI lamp should always be used in closed fixtures (unless the P=protected version with extra Teflon coating) because the hard glass outer bulb can sometimes break at the end of its lifespan! This can be dangerous when hot parts (up to 600 degrees Celsius) can fall down.
